Donation & charity contribution disclosure

This disclosure explains how Fluffy Coat's charity contributions work, what they are not, and how to read the public tracker. We're putting this in plain English on its own page because charity-washing is one of the most damaging things a brand can do to a cause.

1. We are not a charity

Fluffy Coat is a for-profit ecommerce brand. We are not a registered charity. We are not a non-profit organisation. We do not have charity status in any jurisdiction.

2. Your purchase is not a donation

When you buy a product, you are buying a product from a for-profit business. You are not making a donation to a charity. Your purchase is not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution in any region, including the UK, the EU, the US, or Australia.

3. We make the contribution, not you

Fluffy Coat — the company — makes contributions to selected animal welfare partners. These contributions come from our eligible revenue or profit. Customers do not contribute directly through their orders; the contribution is made by us as part of our business.

4. How the contribution is calculated

Contributions are calculated from eligible revenue at our discretion. "Eligible revenue" excludes shipping, taxes, refunded orders, and any orders flagged as fraudulent. We do not publish per-order contribution figures, because the calculation method may change. The running total contributed is shown on the public charity tracker.

5. The selected partner may change

We rotate charity partners by campaign. The currently active partner is shown on the tracker. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or controlled by any of the charity partners we contribute to. We pick partners based on their work in animal welfare and rescue, and we may choose to stop supporting a partner at any time.

6. Timing of contributions

Contributions are sent to the active charity partner on a recurring schedule (typically monthly or quarterly), not on the day each order is placed. The "last contribution sent" date on the tracker shows the most recent transfer date. The "raised" total on the tracker is the amount we have allocated and intend to send — it includes amounts not yet transferred.

7. Refund handling

When an order is refunded, the corresponding contribution allocation is reversed before any contribution transfer occurs for that order. Where a contribution has already been transferred, we adjust the next contribution by the equivalent amount rather than recalling funds from the charity partner.

8. Tracker accuracy

We update the tracker manually after each contribution is sent or when admin reconciliation is completed. There may be a short lag (typically up to one billing period) between an order being placed and its contribution showing on the tracker.

9. No promises beyond the disclosure

We will not say "every purchase saves a dog" or "100% goes to charity" because those statements are misleading. We will say "a portion of every eligible order is contributed to selected animal welfare partners" because that is what we actually do.
